ASUU Has finally called Off Its Six Month Strike

 New Report reaching Us from Minna, Niger State capital, indicates that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has called off its six months strike.

The Union arrived at the latest decision to suspends its strike after a marathon meeting held at the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State on Monday.


After a protracted debate, the Federal Government and ASUU reached a compromise during a negotiation brokered by the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar few days ago. Glory be God

Federal Government(FG) Deposits N200 Billion Naira Varsity Funds with CBN, Shifts Deadline for Lecturers' Resumption

The federal government has opened an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in which it has deposited N200 billion being part of the funds earmarked to tackle the rot in the nation's university..... The presidency disclosed Tuesday.

The lodgement, it added, was part of efforts to fulfil the promise President Goodluck Jonathan made to the Academic Staff of Union Universities (ASUU) during their marathon meeting in November.

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: ASUU Has Finally Agreed To Call Off Strike Only On Three Conditions

The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has finally agreed to call off the five months strike, giving three (3) important conditions. Read them below:

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has given three conditions to be tabled before President Goodluck Jonathan today. If the terms are acceptable to the Federal Government, the union will call off the strike.

A source close to top guns in the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has told Amenbovillage the lecturers will ditch their four month old strike this weekend so students could resume on November 18 (next Monday).

ASUU UPDATE: FG Plans To Start Granting Loans To University Students




OMG  could this be true?.....
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU yesterday rejected. the N130 billion the Federal Government disbursed into the university system, as part of efforts to persuade striking lecturers to call off the strike which began on July 2, 2013.

 A letter written to the Head of National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy, NEEDs Assessment, and Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswan, by President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge. The union insisted that based on the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement and the January 2012 Memoranda of Understanding, MoU, signed by both parties, what was due for 2012 and 2013 was N500 billion, not N100 billion.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said the Federal Government’s threat to implement its ‘no-work, no-pay’ policy cannot stop its ongoing strike.

The union described the policy as an “obsolete familiar threat”.

In a statement yesterday, titled: ASUU: On Government’s Threat of No-Work, No-Pay, by its Chairman of the University of Ibadan (UI) chapter, Dr Olusegun Ajiboye, said members of the union have resolved to pursue the strike.
